What should I do when accepting new custom made software project from a company?

I'm a programmer and this is the first time I got new software project. But I don't know how to start and I don't know how to handle a project like this one.

Make Model Of The Product Using UML or Other Modelling Languages,Get The Complete Requirement of Client, Then Make That Model As SRS- Software Requirement Specification, There U have To Mentiion The Diagrams as Well, YOu must be clear with that Software Developement Life Cycle, Then Make Proper Documentation including the table structure and users Provision who all are interact with tha system once u finshed those things, show to ur client and get his approval, then start database design and project design then make coding and test it, then finally deploy that
2. Ask others you work with if there are established procedures. It would be a good idea if you could find a mentor.
